Registration for the Chancellor’s Excellence Awards is Now Open!

 

All UT institutions are invited to submit entries for the 2019 Chancellor’s Excellence Awards, which recognize exceptional performance and best practices in key areas of development, advancement services, events, communications and media relations. 

 

A committee of peer reviewers from the University of Texas System and UT institutions will serve as judges of the competition in each category. 

Entries must be for work completed between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019.  Each institution's college or department may submit only one entry per category, please. Additionally, each institution's central development office may submit one entry per category. For communications and events entries, all submissions must be original work developed and produced in-house. 

 

To be considered, please submit the form below and supporting materials by Friday, November 29, 2019. You may also send the form via email to awards@utsystem.edu.

CATEGORIES:

Excellence in Advancement Services

Recognizes exemplary programs, projects and initiatives in advancement services that serve as best practice models for other institutions to emulate, provides a successful solution to addressing challenges, reflects strategic use of resources, achieves significant results and/or utilizes innovative practices. Entries can be in any area of advancement services including endowment administration and compliance, gift administration, operations and information systems, gift reporting, stewardship and prospect research.

Excellence in Special Events

Recognizes excellence in the planning and execution of events and special activities for UT institutions or any college, school or department within an institution. (Must not have been outsourced.) 

Excellence in Communications

Recognizes outstanding work in the strategic planning and execution of a marketing or communications effort; outstanding work in the production of print or online publications that advance the university’s mission with excellence in writing, design and creativity; or the creative use of digital marketing (including social media) that engage with the community and/or specific target audiences. (Must not have been outsourced.)

Excellence in Media Relations

Recognizes overall excellence in communications efforts involving the news media that educate and inform the public about a specific program, initiative or situation and result in significant and measurable coverage by print or digital media and/or social media engagement. Such efforts may include crisis communications, issues management, op-eds, press releases, as well as prepared video and broadcast remarks.  (Must not have been outsourced.)

Excellence in Fundraising Improvement  

This selection will be made based on data we already have from various sources, so there is no need for an institution to submit an entry. Criteria will include percentage increases in giving and donor count over the past three years, cash received as a percentage of institutional expenditures, marks of a balanced fundraising program, comparison against peer institutions, and other data extracted from the Voluntary Support of Education Survey (VSE) and your institutional development reports (IDR).
