UTRC network connected externally to high-speed networks across the nation
The UTRC network, which currently allows for connections of up to 10 Gbps, has been connected externally to other high-speed national networks at a bandwidth of 100 Gbps. This allows researchers to easily access other high-speed networks, such as Internet2 or LEARN. Researchers can now access other common internet resources without switching their network connection. The new connectivity also permits more UT institutions to simultaneously connect to the network at 10 Gbps. The connection currently occurs at a point in Houston and, as a result, enables Houston-based institutions to often connect at speeds faster than 10 Gbps. read more
Website & Blog
For more information, please visit the UTRC website, which functions as a gateway for UTRC users to access common tasks and tutorials. The website contains news articles, FAQ, price comparisons, and other resources for UTRC users. We will soon be debuting use-case examples, which will highlight researchers and projects that rely on UTRC resources. In the future, we hope to expand the offerings on the website based on suggestions we receive from researchers throughout the UT System.
The UTRC website also contains a blog intended as a venue for casual dialogue regarding the UTRC and related projects. Please feel free to send us questions or suggestions that we may feature as blog posts and visit the blog to get involved in the dialogue.
