Accommodations

We have selected the Willard InterContinental, in the heart of Washington, D.C., as our host hotel and received an extraordinary response to our hotel registration email sent earlier in the year. We are currently at capacity. For those who have not yet booked accommodations, we encourage you to make plans at one of the many beautiful hotels in the area. While the rates will differ, those closest in proximity to the host hotel include the JW Marriott and the W Hotel Washington.

If you are not yet on the wait list and would like to be added, please contact our office at 512-499-4277 or via email at rsvp@utsystem.edu. We will continue to move wait-listed CCEC members into the Willard as rooms become available, and we’ll be in contact with you in advance, to confirm that you still wish to transfer there.

If you determine that you no longer need your room at the Willard, please contact our office before releasing the room so that we may offer it to another member at the special CCEC rate.

Football Tickets

On game day, we will travel by bus to FedEx Field to cheer on the Texas Longhorns as they face the Maryland Terrapins. We are grateful to UT Austin for making football tickets available for purchase by CCEC members, and will do our very best to fill your requests for up to two tickets at time of registration. If you are eligible to purchase tickets through the Longhorn Foundation, we encourage you to do so.

Unfortunately, due to the limited number of tickets available to accommodate all, CCEC members who already purchased football tickets through the Longhorn Foundation will not be able to purchase additional tickets through our office at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Please feel free to contact us at 512-499-4277 or via email at rsvp@utsystem.edu.

Optional Tours

Friday, August 31, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

You may choose to register for one of the following optional tours:

Newseum  http://www.newseum.org/

Considered one of the most interactive museums in the world and one of the most popular destinations in Washington, D.C., the Newseum features 15 galleries and 15 theaters on seven levels. The exhibits include the 9/11 Gallery; the Berlin Wall Gallery, which has one of the largest displays of the original wall outside Germany; and the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery, featuring photographs from every Pulitzer Prize-winning entry dating back to 1942, among other powerful exhibits.

The Newseum’s mission is to increase public understanding of the importance of a free press and the First Amendment. Visitors experience the story of news, the role of a free press in major events in history, and how the core freedoms of the First Amendment – religion, speech, press assembly and petition – apply to our lives.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum   https://www.ushmm.org/

Chartered by a unanimous Act of Congress in 1980, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum opened in 1993 to honor the victims and survivors of the Holocaust and to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust are taught in perpetuity. The exhibits strive to broaden understanding, to preserve the memory of those who suffered, and to encourage visitors to reflect upon the events of the Holocaust as well as their own responsibilities as citizens of democracy.

The museum has hosted more than 40 million visitors to date. It contains almost 13,000 artifacts, 80,000 historical photographs, 49 million pages of archival documents and 9,000 oral history testimonies, among many other educational and research assets.

*Lunch at your leisure. We have provided a map of the hotel and list of favorite local restaurants you may wish to experience.
