Background

The Jan Richter Hopson Achievement Award was established in 2015 to recognize exemplary individuals who have served a University of Texas institution or the UT System Administration with distinction for five or more years in the field of development.

Award recipients will be selected each year by a committee of representatives from UT institutions and the UT System Office of External Relations, based on a review of written nominations submitted to the Office of External Relations.

Award Nominee Criteria

  • Nominees must have been employed within development/advancement services at the nominating UT institution and any other UT institutions or UT System Administration for a total of at least five (5) years.
  • Nominees must have demonstrated excellence in his/her duties at work, including providing exceptional customer service to internal and, if applicable, external constituents.

Nomination Process

  • Each UT institution and UT System Administration may submit one nominee each year.
  • Nominations will be submitted electronically and should include the following information:
    • Name and title of nominee
    • Number of years employed within development/advancement services at the nominating UT institution and other UT institutions
    • Written description explaining how the nominee has demonstrated excellence in his/her duties.

Operation of Award Committee

  • The amount of the award may vary each year and will be based on the amount of endowment distributions available for expenditure. The minimum award amount is $500.
  • The Award Committee members will be selected by the UT System Office of External Relations and will include at least two representatives from UT institutions and one representative from UT System Administration.
  • The forum for the presentation of the award may vary from year to year and will be determined by the Award Committee.
