Sergeant Standerfer is from Reston, Virginia. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice. After graduating from the University of Houston Downtown Police Academy, he joined the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) as a patrol officer. During his tenure with HPD, he also served as a traffic officer and then as a detective with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID). While in CID, he focused on personal crimes ranging from simple assaults to murders.
Seeking further advancement and opportunity, Sergeant Standerfer joined the University of Texas System Police at the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) in December 2015 as Patrol Sergeant. While at UTPB, Sergeant Standerfer has received his Basic Instructor Certificate, became an ALERRT Level I instructor, and obtained his Advanced TCOLE Peace Officer License. In 2016, he successfully organized an active shooter drill on the UTPB campus involving multiple agencies.
Sergeant Standerfer is excited to be a part of the UT System and committed to its mission of protecting the life and property of the student body, faculty, and staff of the University of Texas. It has been an honor to serve with colleagues at both the UT System and UTPB, men and women who are true public safety professionals.
In his free time, Sergeant Standerfer is involved in both physical fitness and nutrition. He spends summer vacations in Colorado where he enjoys anything outdoors. Academically, Sergeant Standerfer plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
