Colin Slott, UT Southwestern Medical Center Dallas - Featured Officer of the Month

Officer Colin Slott began his Law Enforcement career as a dispatcher in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. For seven years, he dispatched both Police and Fire/EMS where he also was Co-Emergency Medical Dispatcher of the Year. After some Police ride outs, Officer Slott knew he wanted to pursue a career as a Police Officer. 
Before he became a Police Officer for UT Southwestern, Officer Slott spent his time shooting IDPA and going to shooting schools as a civilian. In 2013 when he started his career with UT Southwestern Police, the competition shooting proved to be excellent training that showed through the firearms portion of his BPOC academy and the UT System lateral academy. Officer Slott served in patrol from March 2014 through December 2015. Since January 2016, he serves as the Hospital Liaison for the UT Southwestern hospitals. Along with his duties as the Liaison Officer, he also teaches Active Shooter Events (ASE) response for the UT Southwestern campus. He has completed the FBI Crisis Negotiator 40-hour course, ALERRT I as well as ALERRT Train-The-Trainer. Officer Slott is going back to school to obtain his degree as well as becoming a Firearms Instructor to further his career.   
Officer Slott is Texas born and raised. He played baseball from an early age through his high school years. When he is off-duty, he enjoys watching sports, playing hockey, barbequing and spending time with his wife and son (and soon his daughter, too!).
