Karl Zuber, UT Dallas - Featured Officer of the Month

Lieutenant Zuber was born in Dallas and raised in the suburb of Rockwall. He graduated from Rockwall High School in 1999. Lieutenant Zuber attended UT Dallas and graduated in 2002 with his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. While a student at UT Dallas, he joined the police Explorer program and became an advisor. During his time with the Explorer program, he gained a basic knowledge of police practices and procedures. Lieutenant Zuber also completed an internship with the UT Dallas Police Department as a student.

Lieutenant Zuber  began his career with the UT Dallas Police in June 2006 and graduated the 82nd academy in December.  He started as a patrol officer and worked mostly on night shift. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2008 and spent time on both day shift and nights. An opening in the Criminal Investigations Division gave Lieutenant Zuber the opportunity to serve as a Detective. Lieutenant Zuber was promoted to Detective Sergeant and spent a little over a year in investigations before returning to patrol.  Lieutenant Zuber served as the night shift patrol Sergeant for almost five years and was recognized as Supervisor of the Year in 2015.

In 2017 Lieutenant Zuber was promoted to Lieutenant and currently serves as the Commander of the Patrol Division. 

Lieutenant Zuber is recognized as a Master Peace Officer with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, and holds an Instructor’s License with the state of Texas. He is passionate about keeping the campus safe, and as a Field Training Officer, enjoys coaching younger officers in law enforcement.

Lieutenant Zuber is married to his wife, Alexis for 12 years and they have two boys, Xander and Kyle. They enjoy spending time taking road trips and watching the boys play football and basketball.
