UTSA has been a big part of my life since August 2004. I came to school here and graduated in 2007. Then I began working as a dispatcher with the UTSA Police Department that same year. I dispatched for a few years and then did one year as administrative associate before attending the UT System Police Academy in 2011.
Being a new patrol officer, I loved the excitement that came with working all types of calls and learning from each one of them. I have worked with several great officers throughout the years. I observed how they worked and always tried to learn as much as I could. My supervisors have also helped pave the way for the kind of supervisor I wanted to be.
I completed my Master’s Degree in May 2014. I then promoted in November 2014 as a Corporal and then again in June 2018 as a Sergeant. I have learned and grown so much. Not just as a supervisor or officer, but as a person. The department has been through several highs and lows, to include the passing of one of our department’s most beloved individuals. Then there are personal highs and lows as well. For each major event in my life, I have always received so much support from the department. Our job and responsibility goes beyond law enforcement, we are a family. I have grown with my family for over 11 years now.
My personal goal is to do the best work I can and always do right by my fellow employees. I want to set a great example for my son. I want him to see first-hand that you can do whatever you want in life, so long as you set your mind to it. My career goals are to join our Criminal Investigations Section. I also want to become instructor certified and help instruct Crisis Intervention Training.
I have dedicated myself to the department. I feel blessed for the opportunities I’ve had and proud to be an employee with the UTSA Police Department.
