The University of Texas System is committed to ensuring that every Texan who desires to earn a bachelor’s degree from a UT institution has the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial circumstances. To uphold this commitment, the UT System Board of Regents has established the Promise Plus endowment.

Promise Plus is a need-based financial aid initiative that enables students facing economic challenges to pursue a bachelor’s degree from one of UT’s nine academic institutions without being burdened by tuition and mandatory fees. Eligibility for this program is determined by the gross family household income of the student, which must fall below a specific threshold, varying from $65,000 to $125,000 depending on the university.

Funds from the Promise Plus endowment are used to augment existing need-based financial aid received by students through various channels, including campus tuition assistance programs, as well as federal and state initiatives. Each UT institution administers its own Promise-related financial aid program, ensuring that students who meet the specified family income thresholds receive full coverage for tuition and mandatory fees.
