Each month, Get to Know… will feature two members of UT System Administration’s talented staff as they offer insights into their lives in and out of the office. Each new edition will be published here.
Sarah Cobble
Event Manager
Office of External Relations, Communications and Advancement Services
What are your primary job responsibilities?
I help to coordinate and execute UT System events at the UT System building, Bauer House and other many other locations, such as UT institutions and hotel ballrooms in difference cities and states. I also maintain records and data related to those events. I've loved being a part of planning significant events such as the Chancellor's Council Executive Committee Meetings on campuses such as UT San Antonio last year and at our UTNY campus in New York City a few months ago, as well as other events such as Chancellor Milliken’s conversations with notable guests such as his recent conversation and reception at Bauer House with journalist and author Larry Wright.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
The people! I love getting to know so many incredible people at events and in the hallways of the building. I have learned so much from everyone I get to interact with, and I truly enjoy getting to hear about the professional and personal backgrounds of my colleagues.
What is a fact about you that may surprise your colleagues?
Growing up, my dad was in the Coast Guard, so I've gotten to live in some really fun places, including Oahu, Hawaii! I've also lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and, most recently, Illinois. But my best move was to Texas to escape the cold Midwest winters and be closer to family.
What do you do to disconnect or de-stress?
Walking my sweet pup Mo, trying out the newest coffee shop or restaurant in Austin (Greater Goods, Patrizi’s and the Peached Tortilla are a few of my current favorites), going to a kickboxing class or reading in a hammock at Mueller Park.
Who is currently playing on your Spotify playlist?
It widely varies by the day, but my current go-to artists are Lake Street Dive, The Brook & The Bluff and Noah Kahan.
