The Ethics Standards for the UT System are summarized in the brochure "Ethics and the University of Texas System: A Brief Practical Guide." The brochure also provides guidelines for use of state resources. A more extensive discussion of ethics laws is contained in "A Guide to Ethics Laws for State Officers and Employees" prepared by the Texas Ethics Commission. Gifts or benefits offered by others to employees or by employees to public officials may present legal and/or ethical problems. An honorarium is a benefit which is regulated by law.
