Sergeant Hart began her Law Enforcement career in 2011 where she served as a Crime Scene Technician with the City of Odessa Police Department. Sparking an interest, Sergeant Hart was accepted into the Odessa Police Academy; graduating at the top of her class academically.
UTSA has been a big part of my life since August 2004. I came to school here and graduated in 2007. Then I began working as a dispatcher with the UTSA Police Department that same year. I dispatched for a few years and then did one year as administrative associate before attending the UT System Police Academy in 2011.
I have the best job in the world. I get to be a Peace Officer in Texas at a pivotal point in the direction of a profession that, at its best, is noble and selfless.
All my life I have been part of a team. From playing sports to being a member of Boy Scout Troop 123, I have learned from an early age the value of hard work, team work and the importance and integrity of a uniform.

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I am a proud descendant from a family of immigrants who came to this great country for a better life. I was taught to work hard and earn my accomplishments, never expecting anything to be handed to me.
First off I would like to thank my wife Kay and our children who have continued to support me in this chosen profession all of these years even when missing anniversaries, birthdays and other special events. I also would like to thank the University of Texas System Police for the opportunity offered in being just a small part of the greater team with University Police.
My career in law enforcement began by chance in 2000 through a college friend named Carrie. She always wanted to become a police officer. She had been unsuccessfully trying for nearly a year to find an agency that would sponsor her license. Carrie had completed a local police academy she had financially supported herself through.
Having just returned to a sense of normalcy after having worked through Hurricane Harvey, I watched news outlets nervously as it became obvious that hurricane Maria was going to cross through the center of Puerto Rico. There was no stopping it and hurricane Maria barreled onto Puerto Rico on September 20 2017.
Roman Ramos currently serves The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as Patrol Lieutenant with the School of Medicine Sector of the Police Department. His area of operations spans four counties on the southernmost region of this state and focuses on providing service, safety, and law enforcement to all School of Medicine areas of operation.
